2 TIME OLYMPIAN ASSEMBLES TEAM TO HONOR HEALTH CARE WORKERS
Olympic gold medalist, Michele Smith, keeps her medals on prominent display, proud of the team work that went in to winning gold 2x at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games as a pitcher for the US National Softball Team.
Now, Smith is looking for ways to team up and support her community in the fight against COVID-19.
Smith owns several local businesses in Treasure Island from Sunset Inn and Beach Cottages to her newly built- The West Event Space in Madeira Beach. Despite her own properties being negatively impacted by the pandemic that has shut down much of the tourist and event business in Florida’s beach communities, Smith along with Sabrina of Southern Star Weddings, has drafted a group of local business owners to help health care workers who have been on the front lines in the fight against COVID 19.
Smith and a dozen local wedding vendors have teamed up to give away a free wedding to a health care worker who has had their own wedding negatively impacted by this global pandemic. When it is safe to resume weddings in this community, Smith and a team of experts will provide a lucky couple with an entire wedding to remember from planning to photography, catering, cake, bar service, flowers, DJ, even pet care. Wedding package is valued at over 30k.
“We are so grateful for all of the courage and dedication that our health care workers are showing here in the Tampa Bay Area as well as across the country. We came up with a creative way to say thank you in the most personal, celebratory way. We can’t wait to make a happy couple feel special and supported after all they have done for our communities,” said Smith.
