What is your favorite feature of The West Events and what do you feel sets the venue apart from the rest?
The West Events is very different from other venues because of its modern industrial style, location near the beach, gorgeous bar, beautiful patio space, installed lighting, fun getting ready space, and best of the best team. As a detail oriented person, I love that the venue includes upscale rental options included with the space as well as a perfect combination of indoor and outdoor spaces. WOW! My favorite feature? So hard to choose with all that the venue offers. My favorite feature of The West Events is the fenced in outdoor patio with turf and some covering. The layout of the space showcases the ideal flow for any style wedding!
What sets your planning services apart from the others?
What makes our business standout from other planners is our backbone of pure passion. I opened MDP Events in honor of my best friend who shared the same obsession and love for weddings that I do. Not only do I adore planning weddings, but having a huge motivational inspiration makes each and every celebration extra special. Through inventive design, detail-oriented planning, stress-free production, and custom packages, we provide coordination that is ALL about our clients vision. Our goal is to guide clients through every aspect of planning with ease and confidence so they can enjoy their engagement. We also offer A La Carte packages making sure that our couples are given the services that best suit their needs to make for a wonderful and fun planning partnership.
Why did you get into event planning and what do you love most about being in the industry?
What I love most about planning weddings is the relationship I create with my clients and seeing their ecstatic reactions on their special day knowing they are over the moon! I have always had a love for planning weddings even before I found my niche working in Newport RI when I realized it was my absolute dream career. The passion I have for coordinating weddings stems from my obsession with organizing and the DETAILS!! I adore being able to work with all different couples, vendors, and creatives to bring a dream vision to life and of course being a part of the most special day for each newlywed.
What is the best advice you can offer your client when it comes to picking a venue?
There are so many different venues to choose from, and we as wedding planners like to work with clients from the very beginning of their planning process to assist with the search. The first thought running through a couple's minds is what style venue they envision getting married at. This is very important! However, the aesthetic is just one key part of the process. When choosing a venue it is necessary to remember your budget. A space that enhances your theme is wonderful, but if it is a blank slate then remember that decor, florals, and rentals will drive the cost up. Gathering proposals from venues that are full-service as well as venues that you will need to rent your own items is helpful for seeing the big picture for your budget. With so many trending color schemes and locations, it is important to remember your wedding day is about the two of you and to stay authentic to what represents you best!
If your client asks for your advice when it comes to enhancements to make their big day extra special, what would you recommend? What do you think makes the biggest impact? (Suggestions: Neon Signs, Ice Cream Cart, Photo Booth Bus, Gelato Cart, etc)
I always say choose additions to your wedding day that showcase your personality as a couple. If you love ice cream, do an ice cream cart. If you love funky fun entertainment, do a photobooth with lots of props. If you are excited for your new last name, do a neon sign! A neon sign is always wonderful as you can always add it to your own home. You can never go wrong with a photobooth as it is fun, memorable, and acts as a favor for your guests.
What has been your biggest accomplishment in life?
My biggest accomplishment in life so far is loving my career and opening up MDP Events in honor of my best friend. It is so hard for many people to enjoy what they do and feel rewarded each day. Every single moment I design something different, meet new clients, and of course see the vision come to life is the best feeling. I am so lucky to be able to love the fun, the stress, the problem-solving, the design, and the relationship with each client that I have. Wedding planning is truly something I am very proud to be able to do and am honored to be going on my eleventh year in the industry.
